Adventures at Last Thursday  ~~ Gremlin and I had fun meeting lots of new people, even though it was a very sunny afternoon.

I had an intriguing time trying to keep people from trying to sell me/convince me of things.  Isn’t there a popular etiquette clause that says “hey, she’s working right now, it’s probably not the best time to hit on her in eerily specific ways/exhort her to pursue jesus/try to sell her things/ask her to sign up for my program.”

However, it was generally hilarious more than anything else.

I won’t be selling in the winter season, since the street won’t be closed, etc etc, but I’ll be back come spring.

Our adventures at Last Thursday.

It was a fantastic, exhausting, terrifying, etc.  I have a small sunburn in the very center of my face, which amuses me to no end.  Gremlin was definitely the star of the party; next time I’m getting him a pedestal that says ‘free puppy cuddles.’

Worst part: crowd standing in front of our table and blocking traffic.  I only made one sale (as I was packing up the table, no less!) and that was pretty discouraging, but now I know a LOT more about placement. (And to come an hour earlier to stake out my spot — yipes.)

Best part: new friends!  I got to meet the lovely WolfTea (if you follow one new person today; it should be her — check out her photos!), a sweetheart henna artist named Mermaid (and Connor, whose guitar playing reminded me of Rin’s), and so many strange, silly, and encouraging people.

It was really surreal to watch strangers ooh and aah over the things that I make; it definitely made up for the terror of watching people sweet calculating eyes over my table and move on, bored.

I had the opportunity to talk to some people who said “sorry, we’re broke,” and were really surprised when I answered them with: “Just take a card and say hello — I’m here to meet people, not just to make money.”

If you’re here because you met me last night, pretty please say hi!  Don’t be shy~~

A THOUSAND THANKS to Ria, who literally made this adventure possible and gave me hugs whenever I was feeling nervous.

Also to Rin ~~ I think he was trying to cancel out my high-strung with his laid-back, and it worked.  Also, jamming with nearby folk on his djembe and fascinating the masses with his contact juggling ~~~ a little like my own private show.  Well, public show.  Hm.
