Hello tag, can I please have some help? The thing is, my friends are all fake. They tolerate my presence, they don’t actually enjoy it, and that isn’t a good feeling. I’m trying to do a tarot reading to give me advice for how to make new friends within where I am in the world, but outside, the…

Faerie Oracle Reading :: 5.3.13
Not sure if this was supposed to be anonymous, so it is. Heart of Faerie Oracle deck, advice for someone who just broke up with her boyfriend. (I’m sorry, by the way because that pretty much always sucks.)

Back in the saddle
I know I’ve been a fitful blogger while I finished my word count (and, let’s face it, I am a perpetually fitful blogger) — but I’ve got a lot of stuff in the works and I’m hoping to be able to share some of that with you all soon.
Today I got to go watch an OPB radio interview with Ursula K Le Guin about a stage adaptation of The Left Hand of Darkness that’s...

Camp Nano Excerpt : April 30
“So this single deity was a political creation, like the old gods?”
“Not at all. One may create a myth to explain what already exists, but that which exists is not created, only discovered.”
Daiko looked over to be certain, but yes, the headmaster was entirely serious. “Are you a religious man, Headmaster Iman?”
“I am. I know that where you are from, it is considered unscholarly to engage...

Camp NaNo Excerpt : April 28
[in case you all didn’t know, I had to set El Karnaval Xavier aside for a while; I’m just not ready to write it yet. This is a very different story, set in the same world as Cerin’s Howl, centuries later. The protagonist is Daiko Minami, the new ambassador from Tingyi, an anthropologist-turned-politician.]
Daiko stood in front of the mirror, regarding his own face, for some...

Ever since I ditched El Karnaval Xavier and started writing dystopian-future Sifara, things have been going a lot more smoothly.
If I pull this off, it will be the most impressive Nano comeback I’ve ever managed.
(In related news, don’t expect to see me until May)

describe me the way an author would in a book
You notice her first by the color. At eye-level is electric pink, candy blue hair, but your eyes don’t stay there. Her wrists are bangled with neon rainbows, her clothing glows, and a puff of faux fur starts below her knees.
She’s cool, you think, but not cool like whatever’s on the radio. Cool like people want to be close to her, a force more like gravity than attraction....

Camp Nano Excerpt :: April 25
“Plus side,” Belfry said with a half-smile, “there’s always the sex.”
Swamp couldn’t resist laughing at that, and if it was weak it was better than before. “There’s always that. Nothing like a good herp-derp in the sack.”
“A what?”
“You know,” he thrusted in the air to demonstrate, “a herp-derp.”
“I’ve never heard that term before.”
“But it’s oh-so-apropo.”
“You’re cute.” She tapped his nose...

Of Money and Love
Hello, all.
You might have noticed a little ‘donate’ button that appeared in my sidebar today. It’s part of an effort I’m making to change the way I relate to people as an artist.
Much of my work I offer for free, because I don’t feel comfortable requiring people to pay to access it. Most notable are tarot readings. They take me a great deal of time and can be...

Help me out, Portland
I’m looking for Earth Day things in PDX and so far can’t find anything scheduled? I really need to get in touch with my community, but my neighbors get grumpy if I try to talk longer than ‘hello.’

Long days and good news
I’ve been feeling mentally crummy for a few days, and finally found out why — Rin and I are fighting off a bug, and our poor sleep hasn’t helped at all. But, knowing that, I’ve been giving myself a little grace and rest, and feeling better.
Last weekend, we went to Powell’s, and I decided to spend some of my christmas money (which I’ve been guarding jeaously)...

Great minds think alike. ^_^ (I have moscato, nom nom. Well, had.)
I’m discovering that the drunk = sleepy thing is much more of a handicap when sitting at a computer as compares to, say, playing Apples to Apples or Mario (which are my standard things-to-do-while-drinking).
BUT I’m writing, so faaaar be it from me to complain.

Just finished a lovely visit with my father-in-law; now there are no proper excuses to keep me away from my novel.
This is the roughest NaNo I’ve yet experienced; I’m in the neighborhood of 20,000 words behind and struggling to pound out more than a sentence at a time. (This seems like poetic justice; for years now I have decried writer’s block of every kind, saying that one...
